ill., br. Questa edizione economica di Doisneau-Paris, accompagna la grande mostra romana di Palazzo Esposizioni (28 settembre 2012 - 3 febbraio 2013). Il volume è nato in effetti come catalogo di una ambiziosa mostra itinerante, iniziata prima a Parigi, poi trasportata a Tokyo e Kyoto con un enorme successo di pubblico. Alinari la porta ora in Italia per celebrare il centenario della nascita del fotografo più popolare del novecento. Organizzato tematicamente, il libro ci guida in un'incantevole passeggiata per i giardini di Parigi, lungo la Senna e tra la folla dei parigini. Più di 500 fotografie, molte delle quali inedite, creano un ritratto unico della Ville Lumiere: dalle acrobazie dei monelli sui pattini alla fisarmonicista dall'aria impertinente, dalle eleganti signore che portano a spasso il cane all'indimenticabile bacio dell'Hotel de Ville, la magia di Parigi in bianco e nero è un tesoro senza tempo. Le foto, pubblicate dalle figlie del fotografo, sono completate dai commenti dello stesso Doisneau.

ill., ril. Robert Doisneau (Gentilly, 1912 - Montrouge, 1994) è considerato uno dei padri fondatori della fotografia umanista francese e del fotogiornalismo di strada. Con il suo obbiettivo ha saputo cogliere la vita quotidiana degli uomini e delle donne che popolano Parigi e la sua banlieue, raccontando con tocco ironico e leggero ma anche con profonda umanità e partecipazione, la città e i suoi abitanti. Il volume raccoglie 130 stampe ai sali d'argento in bianco e nero, provenienti dall'Atelier Robert Doisneau a Montrouge, che ne custodisce l'archivio fotografico. Che si tratti di fotografie realizzate su commissione o frutto del suo girovagare liberamente per Parigi, si delinea attraverso questi scatti lo stile personale dell'artista, che mescola fascino e fantasia, ma anche una libertà d'espressione non lontana dal surrealismo. Sono immagini che catturano momenti di felicità quotidiana fra la gente comune - come il celebre Le Baiser de l'Hôtel de Ville, ovvero "Il bacio" - e in cui si mescolano tenerezza, talvolta velata da malinconia, ma anche note di umorismo, sempre presente nel suo lavoro.
