An equally accomplished painter Bartholdi nevertheless worked under the pseudonym "Amilcar Hasenfratz" when creating his popular paintings of Egyptian themes fearing they might detract from his fame as a sculptor. Photo measures approximately 3 1/2" x 5" mounted on the first of twelve 11" x 14" leaves of biographical and critical text by Charles Lefevbre.
