Douglas' father the 9th Marquess of Queensberry publicly accused Wilde of being homosexual leading to a trial and Wilde's imprisonment. In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards. Externally generally smart with light marks and rubbing to the boards. Marks are heavier to the rear board. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Hinges are tender. Front endpaper and half-title are detached but present.
