With 25 beautiful black and white illustrations by Bernard Partridge. A lovely near fine copy the binding square and firm the extremities slightly rubbed the spine and tops of the boards very lightly faded. The contents with just a little faint foxing to the margins of pages 42 to 52 are otherwise clean throughout and without stamps or inscriptions. A beautifully bound and illustrated collection of poetry and dramatic verse. 'Proverbs in Porcelain' was first published in 1877 without illustrations and without the addition of 'Au Revoir'. Dobson became known in the late 19th century for being at the forefront of a movement of poets who used long medieval forms of French verse to write poetry in English with George Eliot among his supporters.
