The dustwrapper is lightly worn. Scarce. "Oppy" was Australia's most famous professional cyclist in the 1920s and 1930s when cycling was a major sport. Among his achievements were his records in marathons such as Freemantle-Sydney Kalgoorlie-Perth Adelaide-Sydney Sydney-Brisbane and in Europe his wins in the Paris-Brest-Paris road race the classic 24-hour Bol dÓr and setting a new Land's End-John O'Groats record. He broke and/or established 101 State Australian and world records in an incredible 24 hours of non-stop cycling at the old Sydney Velodrome. Oppy went on to become a long-time Cabinet Minister in the Australian Parliament and its overseas' representative in Malta. This book is his account of his amazing cycling and political careers. NOTE: The entire lower panel rear cover of the dustwrapper is an advertisement for Percy Cerutty's book Athletics: How To Become a Champion. Original plate in good condition). LES MAITRES DE L'AFFICHE, prestigieuse publication d'art, éditée par l'atelier de lithographie Chaix, dont la parution s'étala de décembre 1895 à novembre 1900. Chaque livraison comportait 4 planches de reproduction en chromolithographie d'une remarquable qualité d'impression des plus belles affiches illustrées des grands artistes français et étrangers (auxquelles il faut ajouter 16 planches de lithographies originales offertes en prime aux abonnés). Lors de l'Exposition universelle de 1889, fut organisée la première exposition rétrospective dévolue à l'affiche, celle-ci devait valider la reconnaissance officielle d'appartenance de l'affiche au monde de l'art.
