Il libro approfondisce lo studio dell'enneagramma dei tipi psicologici a partire dall'analisi dei tre istinti principali - conservativo, sessuale e sociale - che improntano il carattere dei 27 sottotipi. L'intuizione dell'autore è che ogni istinto possiede specifiche correlazioni biotipologiche, isomorfismi e forme mentali che riecheggiano la filogenesi dello sviluppo tri-cerebrale umano. Da questa originale impostazione viene poi attuato un approfondito confronto con la grafologia di Girolamo Moretti. Il dialogo tra enneagramma e grafologia è molto importante perché dal ricco mondo dei 27 sottotipi si può giungere, con l'analisi della grafia, alle particolarità di ogni individuo. Viceversa, le sfumature individuali non possono essere comprese adeguatamente se non inquadrando dapprima il nucleo della personalità.
