De organisatie wisselde in de loop van haar geschiedenis meermaals van naam tot ze in 1995 werd omgedoopt tot Toerisme Vlaanderen en de invulling van haar takenpakket is ? net als het toerisme zelf ? geevolueerd, maar vast staat dat ze het toerisme en de toeristische sector in Vlaanderen en Belgie de voorbije decennia op vele vlakken sterk beinvloed heeft. 75 jaar Toerisme (in) Vlaanderen brengt voor de eerste keer de geschiedenis van deze instelling ? van zijn vroege voorgangers in het begin van de twintigste eeuw, tot vandaag ? voor het voetlicht. Dit verhaal wordt ingebed in de bredere evolutie van het toerisme, met aandacht voor onder andere de democratisering van het toerisme, de evolutie in transportmiddelen en het toenemend ecologisch bewustzijn.
