(ca. 29,7 x 21 cm). 3 S. Original-Manuskript, maschinengeschrieben, mit Deckeltitel und handschriftlichen Notaten (in Kopie). Blätter wurden mittig gefaltet und oben geheftet. Erste Seite leicht gebräunt und fleckig, sonst gut erhalten. Helmut Heißenbüttel verfasste seinen Nachruf auf Carl Zuckmayer sehr wahrscheinlich für einen Vortrag in der Akademie der Künste (Berlin/West), deren Mitglied er war. Auch ein zeitgenössischer Vortrag im Rundfunk wäre denkbar, denn Heißenbüttel war bis 1981 auch Redakteur beim Süddeutschen Rundfunk in Stuttgart. Der Text liegt nach aktuellem Stand nicht in gedruckter Form vor, selbst im Archiv der Akademie der Künste scheint er nicht vorhanden. Das Manuskript (Schreibmaschine, in Kopie) enthält zahlreiche Eingriffe von Heißenbüttel selbst in den Text. Diese Streichungen, Korrekturen, halbzeiligen Ergänzungen, Satzumstellungen betreffen den ganzen Text. Es handelt sich also um einen Text im Entstehen, der auf dieser Grundlage vorgetragen wurde. Hier liegt der Vortragstext in Kopie vor, die der Autor einem anderen Akademiemitglied (es handelt sich um den Architekten Hermann Fehling, Berlin) übersandte. In seinem Nachruf hebt Heißenbüttel vor allem die Position Zuckmayers in der deutschen Literatur nach 1945 hervor. Er schreibt: "Carl Zuckmayer hatte seine historische Position darin, daß er, als Figur, zu der das Werk Profil und Färbung abgab, noch einmal als Stellvertreter einer deutschen, und das heißt auch, einer Nationalliteratur angesehen werden konnte." Später konkretisiert er dies noch mal: "Daß Zuckmayer Erfolg hatte, populär war, ist nicht zu messen im Sinne einer Abrechnung von Bestsellertum gegen wahre literarische Qualität. Sondern die Rolle des letzten Repräsentanten der deutschen Literatur, als den ich ihn hier nun ganz offen bezeichnen möchte, hat ihre Basis in dieser Popularität. Das haben die Feiern zu seinem achtzigsten Geburtstag und die Ehrungen nach seinem Tod noch einmal erwiesen. Wie er, auf seine Weise, die Kontinuität deutscher Literatur über das Verhängnis des Faschismus hinweg zu wahren suchte, so galt vor seinen Intentionen die Spaltung in zwei deutsche Staaten als etwas Vorübergehendes. Im öffentlichen Bewusstsein war er vielleicht stärker noch als Heinrich und Thomas Mann der letzte gesamtdeutsche Schriftsteller." Large folio, First Edition, with fine mounted coloured frontispiece and 120 fine full-page plates in monochrome, endpapers very lightly browned; original buckram gilt, gilt back, gilt top, uncut, upper hinge cracked (but binding entirely sound), a very good, bright, clean copy. This notable exhibition covers work from the fifteenth to the nineteenth centiuries and includes paintings, drawings, etchings, silver and glass. The catalogue includes indexes by painter, draughtsman, etcher, glassworker, silversmith and owner.

Der Architekt Hermann Fehling (1909-1996) zeichnet für viele herausragende Bauten in West-Berlin nach 1945 verantwortlich. So etwa für das Studentendorf Schlachtensee (Gebäudeensemble), das Institut für Hygiene und Mikrobiologie der Freien Universität Berlin und das Max-Planck-Institut für Bildungsforschung, allesamt Beispiele für die sogenannte Nachkriegsmoderne in Deutschland und heutzutage als erhaltenswerte Denkmäler eingestuft. Seit Anfang der 1960er Jahre war Hermann Fehling Mitglied der Akademie der Künste (Berlin/West). Im Jahr 1964 hat er dort die große Ausstellung 'Bauen in Berlin 1900-1964' mit einem Vortrag eröffnet. Das Schreibmaschinen-Manuskript für diesen Vortrag (1964) liegt hier vor. Fehling schreibt/spricht über Berlin und die drei Generationen, welche von 1964 aus gesehen die Stadt prägten: "Unsere Stadt ist also drei Generationen alt und gleichaltrig mit der modernen Zeit. Die drei Generationen entsprechen den drei Zeitepochen, die, unterbrochen durch den 1. Weltkrieg und durch die Katastrophe 1933 unter jeweils verschiedenen Gesichtspunkten die Entwicklung zum Ausdruck bringen." Die erste Generation setzt er ab 1900 unter dem "Endzeitcharakter des Wilhelminismus" an, die zweite konstatiert er "unter dem Aspekt der Vielfalt eines neuen individuellen Bauens in der intellektuellen Weltstadt der zwanziger Jahre". Die dritte Generation des Bauens in Berlin findet sich in der Gegenwart der 1960er Jahre: "Die Demokratie wird Bauherr einer neu entstehenden Stadt. Hier schließt sich der Zeitkreis: Die überkommene Stadt der Gründerjahre und die werdende Stadt verbinden sich und werden zu einer gemeinsamen Aufgabe". Fehling kommt auf zahlreiche neue Bauprojekte in West-Berlin und große Namen wie Scharoun, van der Rohe, Mendelsohn zu sprechen. Später stellt er die Ausstellung genauer vor und lotet auch die Beziehung der Akademie der Künste zum West-Berliner Senat mit einigen Worten aus. Sehr interessanter Vortragstext (Manuskript) zur Architekturgeschichte Berlins, entworfen in den 60er Jahren der gerade geteilten Stadt!
