Each volume with a B/W frontispiece facsimile of the manuscript. 8vos 2 sewn and 4 stapled bindings each in printed wraps. Part 1 Newberry front wrapper detached with remnants of tape that held it for a while title page with a large chip and tear to the fore edge text not affected; Part 4 Bixby wrapper spine perished about halfway down; some edgewear to wrappers all volumes with owner's blindstamp to title pages otherwise all volumes clean and sound. Collated texts in Greek with English introductions by Goodspeed. These 6 volumes comprise the entirety of the Greek Text studies from the First Series listed as volume 2 preceded in volume 1 by the 4 Ethiopic Martyrdoms issued by The Department of Biblical and Patristic Greek of the University of Chicago under the supervision of Goodspeed Ernest D. Burton Shailer Mathews and Clyde W. Votaw. Goodspeed's publication of the Historical and Linguistic Studies were his first solo book publications not including his 1897 dissertation or his journal articles; they were early publications of The University of Chicago which Goodspeed had helped found in 1890 as one of the first instructors in Greek and Latin.
