Hand set in Baskerville type and letterpress printed in four colors on Fabriano Rusticus paper by Paolo Barbieri. Hand-painted endleaves in a mid-twentieth century pattern. Book design and binding by John Paul Greenawalt. Includes original artwork by the world renowned artist Clarice Smith who was commissioned to create six full page works of "Tennessee's Women." It is located in Herefordshire near the Welsh border and is home to what many consider to be the finest collection of Romanesque sculpture in England. A posthumously released collection of black and white photographs by Nickel who dedicated his life to the photographing and preserving of the architectural wonders of Chicago and the works of Louis Sullivan. Nickel studied at the Institute of Design and tragically died when part of the decaying Chicago Stock Exchange a Sullivan and Adler project collapsed on him in 1972. A fine copy in a very near fine dust jacket. Signed and inscribed by Cahan and Williams on the title page: "To Joe who keeps the I D flame alive. Richard Cahan and Michael Williams." Laid in is a printed letter signed from Mr. Williams to Alan Young with the publisher’s letterhead dated April 17 2008 in which Williams presents this copy of his book and inquires if Young would consider an interview regarding his experiences in Hollywood. Illustrated throughout with hundreds of photographs depicting the lively glamorous and not infrequently notorious world of Hollywood. Fine copy in a near fine dust jacket with the most minute hint of use. Alan Young worked with the most famous talking horse Mister Ed one of the most beloved television shows of all time. He is also known for his role of Filby opposite Rod Taylor in the classic film version of H.G. Wells’ The Time Machine 1960 directed by George Pal and has appeared in such motion pictures as Mr. Belvedere Goes to College Aaron Slick from Punkin Crick Androcles and the Lion and has provided the voice for Scrooge McDuck for Walt Disney cartoon films. Hand-stenciled by various hands including Gregory McMurray. Halftone screen from Cathy and the raster-farians at Boxcar Press. There is a REVOLVOING map on the opening page showing the location of the Five Spot Cafe in the East Village of NYC the map highlighted in yellow and red. The text "A Night at the Five Spot" first appeared in "Down Beat" magazine on February 13 1964 and has been anthologized with various textual questions unresolved several times since. The text for this printing has been corrected. The article shows its age in geographic description citing "collectors' book shops." replacing secondhand clothing stores. Now those "collectors' book shops" have been replaced by more upscale shopping venues.
