1890612854Prag: Alois Hynek 1890. Hardcover. Very Good. First edition thus. Volume One only. Translated by Gustav von Joanelli. Octavo. 306 3 contents pp. Handsome decorative cloth. Private library blindstamp on the rear flyleaf. Binding with light wear and corners just worn through two light abrasions on each of the pastedowns hinges starting but sound and front fly with a short split and a handful of pages with bumps or small creases in the top corners still a bright very good copy. A curious volume; beneath the front pastedown opened on three sides still attached on the fourth and facing the raw cardboard of the front cover is a printed publisher's ad for German editions of three volumes: the Decameron Casanova's Memoirs; and Jean-Baptiste Louvet de Couvray's The Loves of the Knight Faublas. There is a possibility that the ad was used as waste paper but the way the ad opened and the mildly salacious nature of the three books makes us wonder if it is in fact a clandestine ad Alois Hynek hardcover
