Il pianista chiede notizie sulla famiglia e si augura di vederla al più presto nell'estate; chiede altres? alcune fotografie di opere di lando Landini, marito di Donatella. Uniti alla missiva un paio di fogli volanti, scritti da Donatella dal titolo "Un appello di Ran Blake", una sorta di bozza-manifesto: "Dal 20 aprile scorso gli artisti e gli intellettuali greci hanno doivuto sottrarre a un censura insensata da parte del crudele regime greco. la giunta militare è stata messa in ridicolo dalla sua ossessiva paranoia; purtroppo i diretti interessati subiscono, al di là di ogni grottesco, quella ottusa stupidità; fra gli altri il compositore Mikis Teodorokis autore della musica di Zerba il greco e il poeta Iannis Riksos che si trova in prigione senza processo. Gli Usa rischiano di assumere un ruolo di appoggio più o meno diretto e la Giunta continuerà ad opprimere la Grecia senza incontrare ostacoli. Io cittadino americano mi offro di dare concerti in qualsiasi parte d'Italia con le sole spese pagate allo scopo di attrarre l'attenzione e risvegliare l'esigenza di promuovere un'azione"

La Divina commedia di Dante Alighieri (terminata nel 1321) è universalmente considerata la più grande opera letteraria composta in lingua italiana e un capolavoro della letteratura mondiale. Il poema che descrive il viaggio di Dante attraverso Inferno, Purgatorio e Paradiso, a un livello più profondo rappresenta l'allegoria del viaggio dell'anima verso Dio. Negli ultimi anni di vita, il poeta e artista William Blake (1757-1827) portò a termine 102 illustrazioni del capolavoro dantesco, spaziando dagli schizzi a matita agli acquerelli. Come l'onnicomprensivo poema dantesco, i lavori di Blake spaziano da scene di sofferenza a immagini di luce, da orribili trasfigurazioni umane fino alla perfezione della forma fisica. Pur rimanendo fedele al testo, Blake apportò il proprio punto di vista ad alcuni dei temi centrali dell'opera dantesca, introducendo elementi interpretativi propri a concetti vasti quali il peccato, la colpa, il castigo, la vendetta e la salvezza. Oggi le illustrazioni di Blake, rimaste a diversi stadi di completezza al momento della sua morte, sono disperse in sette diverse istituzioni. Questa nuova edizione - corredata da dieci pagine pieghevoli formato paesaggio - le riunisce nuovamente, accompagnandole a brani tratti dal poema dantesco, in un'eccezionale accoppiata di due dei più raffinati talenti artistici della storia. Sono inoltre incluse un'introduzione alla Divina commedia e un'analisi delle illustrazioni di Blake.
