A letter discussing the formation of new Cavalry Regiments in the Crimea. Brigadier General John Lawrenson 1819-1854 was a Brigadier-General in command of the Heavy Brigade. He stayed on in the army after the Crimea being made a Major-General in 1860 Lieutenant-General in 1868 and a full General in 1875 before retiring two years later. Condition is good. Folding crease. Internally quite fresh and clean. Illustrated with 6 full page hand-colored lithographs of flowers including frontispiece and 4 b/w full page drawings of botanical subjects with keys at end. Upper outside corner of one of the flower plates lacking without affecting image. Some noticeable transference of color to opposite pages from color plates.
