Contents are grouped under nine different parts such as 'Petit larceny breaking and entering' 'The happy islanders' 'The world well lost' and 'You can go home again'. With an introduction by William Styron 1925-2006 an American novelist and essayist. He was particularly well-known for his memoir 'Darkness Visible' which chronicled his struggle with depression. James Carlos Blake is an American writer sometimes referred to as one of the best writers on 'mythical American outlaw life'. He has written a range of short-stories novellas and novels including 'Aliens in the Garden' 'The Outsider' 'The Pistoleer' and 'Under the Skin'. Collated complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally excellent with no noticeable faults other than a bit of fading to the top edge of boards. Dust wrapper is excellent with minimal edge wear to the top edge of wraps and a mark to the rear wrap. Light age-toning to the top edge of the reverse of wraps. Internally firmly bound. The wonderful Blake designed wrapper artwork looks very striking in the removable Brodart archival protector. This is a review copy and is accompanied by a Heinemann Young Books Review Slip which is in FINE condition.The book has been Signed without dedication by Sir Quentin Blake to the title page. A copy of the ticket for the signing event accompanies this title as provenance. The wrapper design and 22 B/W line drawings are by Quentin Blake. The story is based on Willis Hall's play 'Kidnapped At Christmas'- The story of Crosby and Gilbert two convicts on the run who had to escape because they couldn't face the prospect of yet another Christmas dinner in jail.
