L’opera è così composta: “Introduction - Description des planches du ‘Papyrus de Nefer Renpet’ et ses variantes - Le chapitre 32 du Papyrus - Appendice: étude des principales divinités représentées dans le Papyrus - Tables analytique et systématiques”. Come si legge nell’introduzione: “Notre but est simplement de donner un aperçu général du papyrus, nous attardant spécialement à quelques chapitres et à quelques vignettes qui ont une certaine importance, aussi bien pour l’histoire du Livre des Morts que pour celle de la miniature égyptienne.. Si le nom de Nefer Renpet est fréquent au Nouvel Empire, nous ne possédons cependant aucun renseignement certain relatif à ce fonctionnaire.. nommé tantot ‘chef sculpteur’ ou simplement ‘sculpteur’ c’est à dire ‘porteur du ciseau’”.
