First edition. - The extensive history on letterpress printing in Vienna by the director of the Theresianum library and court librarian Denis (1729-1800) in two parts. The introduction lists Viennese printers in chronological order, while both main parts cover their publications between 1482 and 1560, indicating the libraries and private collections they are kept at. The title vignette shows the Garellian library at the Theresianum in Vienna, named after Nicolo Pio de Garelli (1675-1739), prefect of the Court Library. - Wants the engraved plate of printers' devices. A supplemental volume would be issued in 1793. Binding slightly rubbed, extremities bumped. Very wide-margined, partly untrimmed copy, somewhat brownstained throughout. Modern endpapers.
