" 'Anne Brigman' fills a gap in the understanding of what photography was about in the decade 1903-1913 when the soft-focus, pictorial approach was commanding attention for the first time. Anne Brigman was in the forefront of this style, and, the only woman from the west to be included in the noted gallery of mader art 291, she led the interest in the bay area. The collection of her work in The Oakland Museum is no doubt the strongest in any museum, and, thanks to the gifts of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Nott, contains many important family letters and mementoes."

Great Condition .She Starred on TV & in Movies Judge Steps Out ETC By the fifties she was rarely seen in films and was appearing regularly in television. She was the lead in the series Private Secretary from 1953 until 1957 and The Ann Sothern Show from 1958 until 1959. Both programs were very successful and earned Sothern four Emmy Award nominations but a bout of hepatitis had left her with a bloated and overweight appearance and she preferred not to be seen. DECEASED EMMY AWARD WINNING ACTRESS MISS SOTHERN WHO PASSED AWAY IN 2001 WON 5 EMMY AWARDS FOR TELEVISION SHOWS IN THE 1950s!! SHE WAS ALSO NOMINATED FOR AN ACADEMY AWARD FOR BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN THE 1988 FILM 'THE WALES OF AUGUST January 22 1909 - March 15 2001 was an American film actress. Born Harriette Arlene Lake in Valley City North Dakota Sothern left home very young and began her film career as an extra in silent films in 1927 aged 18. In a role at MGM originally intended for Jean Harlow Sothern was cast as "Maisie" a bold brassy but somewhat scatter-brained showgirl who was also an amateur detective. Dust jacket shows the slightest signs of shelf wear only, no tears. 128 pages, illustrated largely with nude models and how they can be represented in various drawing mediums. Strangely, no dongs.

Feder und Pinsel in Grau, grau laviert, über Skizze in schwarzer Kreide, auf Bütten mit Fragment des Wasserzeichens: großes bekröntes Lilienwappen; mit mehreren Beschriftungen innerhalb der Darstellung. 34,2 x 21,5 cm. Die Aufschriften in holländischer Sprache bedeuten: ?Een karans van moerbije..? = Ein Maulbeerkranz, ?Olijf krans? = Olivenkranz; ?Plutus beelt? = Plutus Statue. Die Allegorie bedeutet: Frieden bringt Wohlfahrt. Die Frauenfigur links trägt einen phrygischen Hut, Symbol der Freiheit. Der Caduceus in ihrer rechten Hand bedeutet Frieden. Die Frau mit dem Olivenkranz (auch ein Friedenssymbol) entzündet Waffen neben einer Figur mit einem Blasebalg und einer Flamme.
