This is ia very good softcover copy with only light wear. Completely clean inside and out (save for a short name to the title-page). Spine not creased, binding firm. A little wear to the right corners and a tiny tear to the back cover top edge. Text in French. This is a survey of political posters and broadsides associated with the Chambre Syndicale in Paris (Confederation Generale du Travaille) from the late 19th century to the 1970's. Illustrated in black & white and color. Also a number of vintage photographs in black & white of workers, street demonstrations, etc. 13 1/2" high X 10 1/2" wide. br. Melchiorre Sessa e i suoi eredi furono, prima di tutto e in senso pieno, editori. La loro attività si estendeva sui due versanti dell'editoria, quello della produzione e quello della vendita dei libri. Da una parte erano attenti agli autori, ai testi e alla loro resa tipografica, in una parola alla formazione del catalogo, anche grazie ad accordi con altri tipografi più di loro versati in particolari tipi di testi. Sul versante delle vendite i Sessa si inserirono con efficacia su una rete commerciale già ben consolidata che, partendo da Venezia, consentiva di far giungere ogni sorta di mercanzie in tutta Italia. Dobbiamo, pertanto, essere grati a Silvia Curi Nicolardi che, in anni di continuo lavoro in archivi, biblioteche e ultimamente anche sulla rete, ha costruito questa bella macchina di documentazione e di analisi delle edizioni di Melchiorre Sessa, cui possiamo d'ora in poi attingere con grande profitto per la conoscenza della sua produzione editoriale, specchio fedele della vita e della cultura veneziana e italiana del Cinquecento.

This is a very good hardcover copy in green paper-covered boards, black leather spine with gilt titles. This copy used to belong to an ivy league university club in New York, and has their bookplate on the inside front cover (with their de-accessioning stamp), and a small blindstamp on the lower corner of the title-page. The covers are a little worn, but the inside text pages and especially the plates are fresh and clean. Text in German. Sections on European prints of the 17th century, 18th century, 19th century and the early 20th century. This is one of the classic surveys of print-making. 121 page text and 35 tipped-in color prints on heavy black stock, and hundreds of black & white illustrations.
