Die Brennessel war eine nationalsozialistische Satirezeitschrift. Ihre Hauptaufgabe sah die Brennessel im Kampf gegen die Weimarer Republik, das "Internationale Judentum", den "Bolschewismus" und das "feindliche Ausland". Entsprechend wurden diese Gegner in satirischen Artikeln und Karikaturen von Karl Prühäußler, Paul Schondorff, Hans Schweitzer und anderen verunglimpft und ins Lächerliche gezogen. Comprising forty-six small slips nineteen of which are written on and three of which are illustrated.The first slip is printed with a colour illustration of Fenerstein in Bezau; the second a hand-coloured botanical illustration; the third a gilt-bordered hand-coloured floral illustration. A few of the letters are also pressed with similar thumb-sized illustrations to the corners.Held in a contemporary straight-grain morocco clamshell box with decorative gilt.Written by various hands dated 1862-1863. Forty-six slips held in a straight-grain morocco clamshell. Externally box is very smart with slight rubbing to the extremities. Letters are generally bright with spotting throughout.
