From 1933 to 1959 it was a boys' story paper; it was relaunched as a comic in October 1959 initially called The New Hotspur and ceased publication in January 1981. Featuring strips Red Circle School Bill Sampson and more. Like other British children's publications The Hotspur was published weekly except for the Second World War and its aftermath when as a result of paper rationing it published fortnightly alternating with The Wizard hence the size of the annual. James 'Jimmy' Clark 1895-1977 was a comics artist from Glasgow who began working in comics in 1928. He was one of the original line-up of Dandy artists at DC Thomson and later worked for them on Beano Magic Comic and Topper on strips including Pansy Potter. He retired in 1961. 94 pages.
