His current rebuttal was prompted by Dr. Charles T. Jackson's 1805 - 1880 claim that he had discovered the telegraph before Morse and Vail. Jackson was a physician and scientist notorious for his continuous claims of prior discoveries of major scientific inventions. Apart from the telegraph Jackson had also started controversies over William Beaumont's digestive action of the stomach William T. G. Morton's anesthetic effects of Ether and others. - Smith Francis O. J. History Getting Right on the Invention of the American Electro-Magnetic Telegraph. S. l.: s. n. n. d. 1872. First edition; 8 1/2 x 5 1/2; pp. 21; scattered small spots; a manuscript note to title page; thin strip of paper loss to last leaf not affecting text; very good condition.Concerning more drama surrounding Morse's invention of the telegraph the pamphlet was written on the occasion of the erection of the Morse Monument in Washington and contained articles and letters claiming that scientist Joseph Henry rather than Morse had invented the system. The author Francis Ormand Jonathan Smith 1806 - 1876 had been Morse's publicity agent counsel and quarter-interest partner but eventually had had a falling out. Various paperback

194014773Various cities: Fichte Association Fichte-Bund; M. Muller & Son; World-Service 1940. This small grouping of pro-Nazi material was published by Theodore Kessemeier's Fichte Bund based in Hamburg est. in 1914 by his father Heinrich Ulrich Fleischhauer's World-Service based in Erfurt est. 1933 and NSDAP printer M. Muller & Son based in Berlin. All three agencies played an important role in the vast German propaganda mill that circulated pro-Nazi anti-Semitic anti-British and anti-Communist material in dozens of languages.

In the United States the NSDAP relied on a broad network of sympathizers and German nationals to circulate its English language propaganda. A 1940 Congressional investigation found that the Fichte-Bund often smuggled their propaganda into the U.S. via Canada where it was distributed by pro-Axis groups and individuals as well as university and college students. It was estimated that between 1933-1940 the organization distributed 54295000 leaflets in 16 languages on a variety of topics: Germany's desire for peace the malign influence of Jews in German society the subversion of Bolshevism Jewish Communism the merits of National Socialism etc. Material bearing the name World-Service could be found distributed by nearly every pro-Axis American nationalist as documented in George Roy Carlson's sensationalized expose Under Cover: My Four Years in the Nazi Underworld of America 1943. World-Service founder Ulrich Fleischhauer was so rabidly anti-Semitic that he was pushed out of his own organization right before the beginning of the war. And M. Muller & Son played a pivotal role in the dissemination of Nazi propaganda and served as the printer for Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf and the NSDAP newspaper the Völkischer Beobachter. Included in this grouping are the following:

Schneider Robert. Organisation und Brauchtum des Freimaurer-Bundes. Vortrag de sRechtsanwaltes Robert Schneider Karlsruhe vor dem Internationalen "Welt-Dienst" - Kongress Erfurt 2.-5. September 1937. Erfurt: World-Service 1937. Side-stapled leaves 11 ¾" x 8 ¼" mimeographed from typescript 9 pp.

The Red Army their Morale and Fighting Ability Nr. 1757. Erfurt: World-Service 1938. Printed on both sides of an 11 ½" x 8 ¾" sheet of thin stock. Toning to cheap paper.

Kessemeier Theodor. The Murdered Accuse! Tortured raped murdered maimed! England! The Murdered Accuse You! with The Real Purpose of England's Intelligence Service. Hamburg: Fichte Bund 194-. Two anti-British propaganda pieces from the Fichte-Bund the propaganda agency founded by Heinrich Kessemeier in 1914 and later run by his son Theodor. The first item is a flyer showing six gruesome photographs of dead and in some cases mutilated bodies of German civilians in Poland. The flyer references the massacre of ethnic Germans in Bromberg - which was dubbed 'Bloody Sunday' - Posen and Briesen and blames British propaganda for instigating the horrific attacks. Germany later used these attacks as a justification for its invasion of Poland. Also included is a two-page article titled "The Real Purpose of England's Intelligence Service!" written by Theodor Kessemeier that was originally distributed with the aforementioned flyer. Besides providing more details on the massacres and Britain's role in fomenting them Kessemeier also accuses Britain of trying to "influence the American people to regard the Jewish-British war-mongering in the United States with a benevolent attitude." The photo-flyer is offset printed on an 11 ¼" x 8 ¾" sheet. Tiny split at old folds but a very good copy of a scarce flyer. The article is printed from typescript on the rectos of two 11 ¾" x 8 ¼" sheets. Three-hole punched creases from folding but very good. Neither found by us in OCLC. Fichte Association (Fichte-Bund); M. Muller & Son; World-Service unknown
