Welsh Festivals . A Bound Volume of Mainly Welsh Musical Festivals 1908-1914

1908111107Hull: Taylor & Rayward Music Printers. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1908/14. Presumed First Editions. Hardcover. Black boards with bright gilt titling to the spine. Complete but a bit scruffy with some cloth missing in small 'spots' exposing the board beneath. The binding seems Institututional but there is No indication as to where it came from. There is a former owners name A Evans and Abergavenny address in pencil I think on the ffep so it could have been a private collection. Internally however the boards have protected the contents - which are some 30 individual Programmes for Musical Festivals including two 'Singing Festivals' in mainly South Wales but one for Chester and another for the 'Monmouthshire Eastern Valleys Congregational Choral Union'. All in their original paper covers of various colours all printed/decorated. A few have a couple of printed photos inside. All have both Music AND Tonic Sol Fa plus the words/lyrics. Programmes from Crickhowell Crickhowell and District Free Church Council ; Llanelly and District Baptist 6 ; Pontypool Weslyan Methodist Circuit 6 ; Blaenavon Baptist 3 ; Monmouthshire Eastern Valleys Congregational Choral Union; Ebbw Vale and District Baptist 4 ; Pontypool and District Baptist 2 ; Undeb Cerddorol: Ebenezer Tabernacle Capel Iwan Drewen Bryngwyn Soar Bethesda Saron a Brynseion yn Newydd Emlyn; Ebbw Vale and District Congregational Churches 2 ; Ebbw Vale and District Calvinistic Churches; Calvinistic Methodist Churches of the Crickhowell District; & Chester Congregational Association. Overall internally Excellent Very Clean Tight and Bright complete copies. Most printed by Taylor and Rayward Hull - but some by other printers. ALL programmes are in English EXCEPT - Undeb Cerddorol: Ebenezer Tabernacle Capel Iwan Drewen Bryngwyn Soar Bethesda Saron a Brynseion. Cynelir Cymanfa Gerddorol 1911 yn Newydd Emlyn - which is totally in The Welsh Language.
