Account of the unsuccessful 1930 International Himalaya Expedition led by Gunter Dyrenfurth which was plagued by bad weather an avalanche and other mishaps. Smythe describes the extensive preparations for the expedition the Himalayan scenery travels in the region--including a visit to the Pemayangste Monastery and the party's successful ascent of Jonsong 24344 feet.
