Long and the Long-Bell Company contracted real estate developer Jesse Nichols renowned landscape architect George Kessler and noted Kansas City urban planner Sydney Herbert Hare to design the new city for high caliber paper works. The city was largely built by 1925 within 2 years from breaking ground.
