Occasional dings to edges the spines gently and evenly faded to a softer brown and three or four volumes have very slight chips to spine heads; still a handsome set. Internally fine; appearing unread with absolutely no foxing or staining. Before ordering this set please advise us of any particular concerns regarding the condition of the books as both buyer and seller would likely begrudge the time and labor involved in a return. A full list of titles is avaliable upon request. A set with appealing provenance bearing the ownership signature in each volume of Helen E. Rockefeller and Virgil P. Kline with an inked dated of 1897. Kline was a high-ranking lawyer and adviser in the Rockefeller empire as well as a co-founder of the Cleveland Bar Association. Helen E. Rockefeller is most likely Helen Effie Rockefeller Bowler daughter of Franklin and Helen Elizabeth Rockefeller and niece of John D. Rockefeller. She would have been 18 years old at the time of this inscription and we suspect that the set may have been a graduation present from Kline. Chapman and Hall / J. B. Lippincott Co hardcover
