Edizione primottocentesca di quest'opera di retorica in due volumi pubblicata in edizione originale nel 1725 e poi piu' volte ristampata. L'autore e' il gesuita Gabriel Francois Le Jay (1657-1734), docente di retorica al collegio Louis Le Grand di Parigi dove insegno' al giovane Voltaire. Il primo volume di quest'opera e' dedicato alla retorica, il secondo alla poetica e contiene una sezione antologica di testi. Le Jay analizza anche la tragedia basandosi sulla Poetica di Aristotele, individuando in Corneille e Racine i due giganti del teatro tragico francese.
