Some of the pages show little tears stains or pencil scribbles. 235 x 30 cm 5-64 pp. This book contains a large variety of illustrations from full page polychrome to half page and monochrome pictures between the texts. This book contains four humorous stories about a rooster named Kantekleer. The character Kantekleer Cantecleer finds his origins in the fables of Reynard the Fox. In his adventures he often outsmarts his cunning opponents. Marie Hildebrandt 1881-1947 translated these stories in beautiful Dutch verse. The illustrations are by the French illustrator comic book artist and animator Benjamin Rabier 1864 - 1939. His work has inspired many other artists like Hergé and Edmond-François Calvo. For the stories of Kantekleer Rabier used his distinctive style with clear colours and comic like facial expressions. B2335 unknown
