This book has been re-bound hard-bound in a fine binding of smooth green leather with gilt-stamping raised bands and gilt stamped leather labels on the spine. The covers show some light scuffing and sunning edge-wear and light rubbing to the corners and spine-ends. The spine is lightly sunned. The binding is solid. The contents are bright and legible with vignette illustrations but also with some damp-staining to the outer edge of some of the pages. This is the first facsimile edition of Caxton's "Fables of Esope" 1484 STC 175. It reproduces original size the unique perfect copy of the work in the Royal Library at Windsor Castle which contains a life of Aesop and is illustrated with woodcuts.
