Joseph Krauskopf (1858 - 1923) was a prominent American rabbi, author, leader of Reform Judaism, founder of the National Farm School (now Delaware Valley University) , and long-time (1887-1923) rabbi at Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel (KI) , the oldest reform synagogue in Philadelphia which under Krauskopf, became the largest reform congregation in the nation. (Wikipeida, 2016) OCLC lists 4 copies of an earlier 1894 copy. (NYPL, JTS, UC Berkeley, HUC) , none of this 1900 edition. Wear throughout. Copy belonged to a child named Sadie Mendel and still has her name and book plate. Rare, perhaps unique surviving copy, from the evolving Reform approach to children's liturgy. Good condition. For a number of years he contributed to the Egyptian and Iraqi press. At the age of twenty-one, he and his family immigrated to Israel. At first Mr. Ballas continued to write in Arabic but after a number of years he mastered Hebrew. Today he is know for his stories, articles and books written in Hebrew. Ora Eitan, one of Israels most promising artists, has won several important awards for illustration and design.
