Media collects trivia from society and large and sends it back to masses in structure forms of news. Since society consists of different communities new impacts people differently. More often than not it doesn’t. People need some identification to relate to news. Media tries to present it in such a manner that it engages people. It goes overboard also in the process. News is a highly perishable item. There media tries to restructure and reprocess to keep people’s interest alive. Media is supposed to be a watchdog of society and intervenes in all possible manner but without being its adversary. It forces the society to divide itself in stereotypes. As far as culture is concerned, it is a static phenomenon and is built over a period of times. Contrary to the popular fears it neither gets easily affected nor it tries to change itself. Ironically media also doesn’t aim at changing it. This book at this triangular relationship at a global level and provides a framework for debate. It is ideally designed for mass communicators and the students to have a second look at the world they live in and how media is trying to influence it. Om Gupta has been a mass communicator since 1969. He has worked for India Today, Times of India group, Indian Express group, Pioneer group and Samachar. He has written plays for All India Radio. His writings in Hindi and English have been published in 31 books covers. He has been a teacher of mass communication since 1995. Presently he is the Dean, Institute of Communication and Design, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. Women have witnessed acute socio-economic problems in male-dominated society in the annals of Indian sub-continent. However, they maintained their identity and consequently emerged as a useful partner in the household affairs. The theme has been comprehensively weaved into four volumes, viz., ancient, medieval and modern India with a thrust on freedom struggle for Swaraj. It has vividly described status of women during the phases of history; her rights and duties, standard of education, lives of Devadasi and widows, female slaves, divorce, remarriage system, the Muslim queens, participation of women in three major movements during Gandhian era, and their sacrifices, status of Dalit women, socio-economic regeneration, nuns in Kerala, women and family welfare, role in labour force and vision of Annie Besant. These volumes would be useful for social scientists, researchers and students in India and abroad. Contents:- Vol 1- Contents, Preface 7, Introduction 11, 1. Status in the Vedic Era 15, 2. Edition originale.

"A useful and comprehensive dictionary of physics containing related material from chemistry" (Cole, 1211). (DSB XII, 427. Conlon, 'Siècle des Lumières', 81:1800. Poggendorff, II, 927). (Conlon, 'Rousseau', n° 672). Petite tache au titre. Mors légèrement frottés. Ex-libris armorié: "A. Le Mareschal Beauvais". Très bon exemplaire, bien relié à l’époque.
