About The Author:- The Editors S.C. Bhatt, had been a writer and journalist with long years of experience as head of important departments in the government. About The Author:- The Editors S.C. Bhatt, had been a writer and journalist with long years of experience as head of important departments in the government. About The Author:- The Editors S.C. Bhatt, had been a writer and journalist with long years of experience as head of important departments in the government. He headed the News Services Division of All India Radio, Publications Division, Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) and Research and Reference Division. In the last mentioned department it was his responsibility to produce papers and writeups on matters of importance to the government and the public. Under his supervision the "INDIA—A Reference Annual" was produced, both from the Research as well as Reference division. Gopal Bhargava, a prolific writer and author of several books, was a senior official in Town and Country Planning Organization, Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India. First educated at Mayo College Ajmer, and a Post -graduate in Economics from Lucknow University, he is a regular contributor to leading newspapers and academic journals. So far, he has published a good number of papers and articles on various issues, concerning urban development, which is his forte. Secrétaire de l’Assemblée, c’est Dupont de Nemours qui en fut le principal rédacteur. "Il accepta de rester au second rang pour poursuivre sa revanche de la chute de Turgot (...). L'Assemblée se montra favorable à la suppression des corvées et accepta l'impôt territorial, comme Dupont l'avait réclamé. Elle marque une victoire des idées physiocratiques" (Schelle, 'Dupont de Nemours’, p. 266 et s.). Les "Troisième et quatrième divisions" des 'Observations' figurent en un volume séparé sous page de titre et de faux-titre particulières, paginées 222 à 696. Les "Première et seconde divisions" de ces 'Observations présentées au Roi' (222 p.) manquent. Très rare, ils n'ont été publiés qu'à petit nombre d'exemplaires Coiffes et mors frottés (fendus en tête du premier caisson sur 4.5 cm), quelques épidermures. Provenance: Famille de Bauffremont, avec ex-libris héraldique à la devise: "Dieu aide au premier Chrétien" au deux volumes. Très bon exemplaire, relié en veau porphyre de l'époque, imprimé sur papier fort.

Le rapport, signé par les Membres du Comité de l'imposition (p. 36), est suivi du projet de décret qui réformait en profondeur les taxes à l'entrée des villes, modulées en fonction du nombre d'habitants et du degré de nécessité de la marchandise taxée. 4 tableaux : "Marchandises exemptées, Produit des taxes, Nouveau tarif, Désignation des marchandises". (Goldsmiths, 14799). Très bon exemplaire.

Edition originale illustrée d'un portrait de l'autrice gravé par N. Courbé. Mémoires de la célèbre comédienne parisienne Marie-Françoise Marchand dite "Dumesnil" (1713-1803). Le texte aurait été rédigé par Charles Pierre Coste d'Arnobat. Marie-Françoise Dumesnil réplique à "La Clairon", sa principale rivale et autre actrice célèbre de la période qui l'avait mise en cause dans ses "Mémoires" publiés quelques mois auparavant. Quelques épidermures et petits accrocs à la reliure. Très bon exemplaire, frais, bien relié à l'époque.

Dans cet essai aujourd'hui largement réévalué, Duclos livre une pénétrante analyse de la société de son temps en faisant, dans la tradition de La Bruyère, oeuvre de moraliste : une morale utilitaire et sociale fondée sur l'interdépendance entre les besoins égoïstes des individus et l'intérêt général de la société. Un important chapitre expose un point de vue original et novateur sur l'éducation et l'instruction. Bien que durablement brouillé avec D'Alembert, Duclos fournit plusieurs articles de critique artistique et d'histoire à l'Encyclopédie. (Meister, 'Duclos', n°48. Le Bourgo, 'Duclos', p. 224. L'abbé Dubos pose en des termes alors inédits le problème fondamental des rapports entre morale et esthétique, représentation, art et réalité. "Etape décisive de la genèse de l'esthétique moderne" (cf. A. Becq, 'Genèse de l'esthétique française', p. 243-265 et passim). "Réimprimé sept fois, cet ouvrage continuera d'exercer son influence pendant le siècle suivant. Il est sans aucun doute le meilleur ouvrage esthétique produit dans la France du XVIIIe siècle" (Brian Elkner, 'Pensée esthétique en France au XVIIIe', Slatkine, p. 62 sq.). Ami et disciple de John Locke, l'abbé Du Bos (1670-1742) devint membre de l'Académie française. Accrocs aux coiffes et aux coins. Signature ex-libris de l'époque sur la première garde blanche: "Laplace". Bon exemplaire, relié à l'époque.
