The fifth edition of this Park Hill imprint printed entirely in Cherokee except for part of the title which is in English; this work uses Sequoyah's syllabary generally called the "Cherokee alphabet". The translators were Samuel Austin Worcester and Elias Boudinot. As a young man living with his parents in New England Worcester had met and become friends with Buck Oowatie a Cherokee whose name among Anglos was Elias Boudinot. Worcester studied for the ministry and after he had been ordained he requested a post among the Cherokee.
