They were followers of the German theologian Caspar Schwenckfeld von Ossig 1489-1561 one of the earliest promoters of the Protestant Reformation in Silesia. In his writings he opposed war secret societies the taking of oaths infant baptism and the establishment of denominations. In Very Good Condition: small scrape on back board larger on front board; light crackling to leather but joints are solid; corners lightly rubbed; occasional foxing and soiling; a few pages have darkened much more than the rest; otherwise clean and tight. Letters between two of the outstanding chemists of the nineteenth century. Liebig with Wohler established the theory of organic radicals and established the division of foods into fats carbohydrates and proteins. 1951 letters laid in to and from the Library of Congress which replies that this was the only edition that it was apparently never translated into English and that the Library of Congress did not own a copy but that a copy was reported to exist in the U.S. at the University of Washington at Seattle. Since that time the letters were reprinted at Gottingen in 1982. Slight wear some foxing to preliminary and final leaves bottom 2" of cloth on spine Vol II has been professionally repaired.
