Vol. 1 parts 1 and 2. 14 908 p.; 20 cm. 8vo. Contemporary half calf with marbled paper over boards. Five spine compartments between gilt rules; red morocco spine label in second compartment with gilt-tooled title: Mosheim's Kirchengeschichte. Small black morocco label in third compartment with gilt-tooled volume number. Front free endpaper bears former owner inscriptions in German script indicating that Joseph Laross purchased the book in 1821 for $12 and sold it to Isaac Schelhammer in 1828. Both a Joseph Laross and an Isaac Schelhammer were Pennsylvania residents in this period indicating that this volume had entered the American book market. Volume contains both the first and second parts of the first volume. Pagination is continuous. The title page for part one specifies "Erster Theil welcher die drey ersten Jahrhunderte enthält" and that for part two notes "Zweyter Theil welcher das vierte bis auf das siebende Jahrhundert enthält." Wood-engraved tail pieces. In Very Good- Condition: rubbed with slight loss of leather at ends of spine; front joint separating from head of spine for 7 cm.; a few page corners are creased; pages are clean and tight.
