This is a collection of historical documents, maps and photographs concerning Baghdad selected from the Ottoman Archives in Istanbul affiliated with the General Directorate of State Archives, Prime Ministry of Turkey. The book begins by Bayat's introductory article on the «Characteristics of the History of Baghdad during the Ottoman Era» which is a glimpse at the history of the city from the beginning of Ottoman administration in 1534 until the British occupation in 1917. The documents which are reproduced and translated in the book were chosen from the Mühimme registers contained in the Ottoman Archives and from various collections of the Archives. They include statistical tables copied from the Devlet-i Osmaniye Salnamesi (Almanach of the Ottoman State) the Nazaret-i Maarif Salnamesi (Almanac of the Ministry of Education), the Bagdat Vilayeti Salnamesi (Almanac of Baghdad Province). Photographs taken during the Ottoman period and reflecting various features of the city are also included, together with various maps of the city. The documents do not cover any specific aspect of the city but reflect general themes about its history in various periods.

New Turkish Paperback. 4to. In Arabic and Turkish. 256 p. Osmanli Arsiv Belgelerinde Müslüman Ülkeler Tarihi Serisi No. 6. (From the Series of the History of Muslim Countries in the Ottoman Archival Documents No. 6). Kuwait based on the Ottoman documents. "Kuwait in Ottoman Documents Selected documents from the Ottoman Archives in Istanbul 1850-1900" falls within the scope of the scholarly efforts IRCICA is deploying to facilitate the access of researchers to Ottoman documents. It is the first work of its kind to contain a large number of Ottoman documents on Kuwait. The Ottoman Archives in Istanbul contain a large collection of documents related to Kuwait. However, they cannot be limited to one volume. The documents adorning the pages of this book were chosen from among thousands if not tens of thousands of documents reserved in the Ottoman Archives in Istanbul. They are selections dating back to a specific period of time and not the whole Ottoman presence in the region: they cover an important part of the history of Kuwait during the second half of the 19th century. They were chosen by Prof. Dr. Fazil Bayat considering what could be most important for researchers dealing with the history of Kuwait during that period. They shed light on major events that occurred in the Kuwait region and the relations between the Ottoman Empire and its rulers, Al Sabah family, in that period. The information they contain has been examined meticulously and with absolute accuracy. A specific method was followed in presenting the documents. The original text of each document is presented side by side with its summary in Arabic. Furthermore, the author examined and analysed each document, outlined it in a simplified form, and added clarifications whenever necessary to facilitate comprehension. As such, the book will be a useful reference to facilitate the task of researchers concerned.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Dd created an exhibition "The Nobels and Baku Oil" that was displayed at the Baku Museum Centre. The exhibition was dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Contract of the Century and the 130 years since the Nobel Brothers opened their business in Baku. It told the story of the Nobel Company's accomplishments in Azerbaijan from 1874 to 1920 and its role in the economic, technological and social development of the region. The Nobel brothers - Alfred, Ludvig and Robert - once had with Baku. In fact, when the Nobel Prizes were established more than a century ago (1901), roughly 12 percent of the prize money was drawn from Alfred's shares in the Nobel Brothers' Petroleum Company in Baku. The Petroleum Production Company Nobel Brothers, Limited, or Branobel ("Nobel Brothers" in Russian), was an oil company set up by Ludvig Nobel and Baron Peter von Bilderling. It operated mainly in Baku, Azerbaijan, but also in Cheleken, Turkmenistan. Originally established by Robert Nobel (who contributed 25,000 rubles) and the investments of barons Peter von Bilderling (300,000 rubles) and Standertskjöld (150,000 rubles) as a distillery in 1876, it became, during the late-19th century, one of the largest oil-companies in the world. The Nobel Brothers Petroleum Company was an oil-producing company that had its origins in a distillery, founded by Robert and Ludvig Nobel in Baku in 1876, which, in 1879, turned into a shareholding company headquartered in St. Petersburg. The share capital of three million rubles was divided as follows: 53,7% Ludwig Nobel, 31,0% Baron Peter von Bilderling, 4,7% I.J. Zabelskiv, 3,8% Alfred Nobel, 3,3% Robert Nobel, 1,7% au Baron Alexandre von Bilderling. Pipeline transport was pioneered near Baku by Vladimir Shukhov and the Branobel company in 1878-1880. On 10 April 1902, the company signed a contract for the purchase of oil fields in Romany, which were owned by the oil producer Isabey Hajinsky. On 17 October 1905, in accordance with the Committee of Ministers, the company purchased the oil fields owned by oil producer A. Adamov. The company's fixed capital in 1914-1917 was 30 million rubles. By 1916, it was the largest oil company in Russia, producing 76 million poods of oil. Between 1877 and 1901, the company drilled over 500 wells, produced 150 million barrels of oil, and employed 12,000 workers.
