The tradition of dictionaries written in verse is a significant line of work in classical literature. This genre is found in the ancient literature of several Muslim nations. It could be observed in recent studies that this tradition continued in classical Kurdish literature, and there are several examples in Turkish literature as well as Arabic and Persian literatures. This literary genre has been authored mainly due to significant factors such as teaching language to children, formation of a literary taste, establishing a basis for madrasah education by improving the ability to rote, preparation for Qur'anic terminology, and familiarizing the students with the aruz prosody in early ages. Naturally, among these reasons, increasing the vocabulary of children, especially in the early years, could be considered as one of the objectives for this genre. Furthermore, it could be argued that these dictionaries have performed important functions in terms of establishing a foundation for a foreign language (which was mostly Arabic). While these works have been regarded as functional educational material especially for those who attend Islamic science studies in the past, today, they unfortunately exist solely as important historical-literary works that only researchers are interested in. It is extremely important that these work, where each work documents important topics such as culture, history and daily life, should be transferred to younger generations through such publications. This dictionary is Dilbikulê Cizîrî's 'Nûbihara Mezinan' (the spring of the ancestors), a Turkish-Kurdish dictionary written in verse. This work is one of eight known dictionaries written in verse in classical Kurdish literature. The work, written to familiarize Turks with the Kurdish language and specially to teach Turkish language to Kurds who do not speak Turkish, aimed to teach the basic words and rules of both languages to adults and children, and to provide advice on religious and ethical affairs. Furthermore, the oeuvre is worth consideration and investigation due to the structure of the method utilized in the work, the volume of the dictionary, and the words prioritized in teaching the language. There's weight and significance of this dictionary in the lexicon tradition which is an important genre in classical Turkish and Kurdish literature. (Source: Ertekin: JOsR, 17.).

Minor bumping to book. ; Towering above printers of his time and their successors for many years afterward was the figure of Robert Estienne, the great French lexicographer of the sixteenth century, whose contribution to knowledge and its dissemination is the subject of this authoritative book. The span of Robert Estienne's life (1503 - 1559) encompassed the historical epochs and events which shaped his career: the Renaissance, the Reformation, and the invention of printing by movable type. His keen interest in the revival of ancient literatures and languages and his training in the art of printing pointed the road he would travel, and the climate of opinion in the Reformation determined his destiny. Robert Estienne promoted classical learning by printing the works of good authors; to spread knowledge of ancient literature he compiled dictionaries and grammars which were adopted by most of the universities of Europe. His dictionary of proper names of Biblical and classical origin, the Dictionarium historicum ac poeticum, became one of the great source books for later compilers of dictionaries and for authors. Ben Jonson showed familiarity with his texts; Spenser and Milton sometimes set translations of his phraseology directly into their poetry. Perpetuation of the few errors he made is one sure proof that his dictionaries were used and copied. An exemplar of learning in the classics and scripture, he searched in ancient manuscripts to avoid repeating the numerous errors that had crept into Bible translations over hundreds of years. ; 136 pages
