Fascinating work being a treatise against Hierocles a Roman governor and Neoplatonic philosopher in which Eusebius combated the former's glorification of Apollonius of Tyana. Minor age-toning on spine. Text in French. Wrappers in overall very good interior in fine condition. About the author: Eusebius of Caesarea c. 263–339 AD called Eusebius Pamphili became the Bishop of Caesarea in Palestine about the year 314. Eusebius historian exegete and polemicist is one of the more renowned Church Fathers. He with Pamphilus was a scholar of the Biblical canon. He wrote "Demonstrations of the Gospel" "Preparations for the Gospel" and "On Discrepancies between the Gospels" studies of the Biblical text.
