Il tedesco Ludolf fu il primo a occuparsi in maniera sistematica di studi sull’Etiopia: in maniera pionieristica per l’epoca decise di allestire un dizionario e una grammatica di quella lingua, fatto che, per le lingue nord africane, non si sarebbe diffuso prima della fine del XIX secolo. These two works consist of a second major edition. A small corner of the page is missing on “Lexicon”’s 10 and 11 columns (the text is still readable). German Ludolf was the first to dedicate his interests to Ethiopia, and quite in a pionerisitic way completed a dictionary and a grammar in that language; a fact that would not be common until the end of the XIX century.
