The Grammar provides a comprehensive knowledge of Gothic and understanding of comparative Germanic grammar, essential to anyone studying the ancient Germanic languages. By way of readings, the book provides the Greek texts of the gospels of St matthew (Chapter VI) and St. Luke (Chapter XV) along with the Gothic translations by Ulfilas (AD 311-383) , bishop of the Goths. A knowledge of Gothic is indispensable to students of the oldest periods of other Germanic languages, this book will be of interest to students whose interests are mainly philological and linguistic.
