10856Hardcover. A unique look at human sexuality and literary Romantic love in the early part of the twentieth century during the colonial and modernist eras. As noted by the famous French philosopher Michel Foucault in his "repressive hypothesis" the age of Victorian repression clearly produced non-traditional expressions of lust. The epistolary consists of an original diary and correspondence between two lovers from 1912 to approximately 1916. It is written primarily in English with some excerpts in Italian. The primary diarist is presumed to be an Italian officer during the colonial era of the early 20th century involving Italy Britain and the "Mad Mullah" in the Benadir region of East Africa. The other correspondent is probably a British lady living in Tuscany at the time. The epistolary includes more than one hundred original drawings of various sexual acts most of which are in color and include detailed descriptions of the scenes depicted. Some images are watercolors some pastels and others are simple pencil sketc.

hardcover books
1610001421Venetia: Antonio Pinelli 1610. Full Vellum. Very Good. 8 8 615 pp. 8vo 8.25 by 6.25 inches 21 by 16 cm. Considered one of the most significant pieces of literature from the Middle Ages and a seminal work of literature written in the French language. Also a milestone in historiography as the most important account of the first and second crusades and especially the latter for which William of Tyre was a contemporary witness. The author produced this work at the request of Almaric I in about 1170 and he continued to work on it until 1183. The work was indeed accepted as unquestioned fact for many centuries and only recently have biases been discerned owing from William's entanglement in the political disputes of the day.

Antonio Pinelli hardcover books

"Q. Does God's holy law permit rebelliousness against one's temporal Sovereign R. Never indeed condemns it highly; for the sacred writing which as you know is the very word of God declares that the High Official Podesta does not come from God but whoever resists him resists precisely the ordination of God and thus proceeds to damnation." Thus begins Count Monaldo Leopardi's 1776-1847 counter-revolutionary Catechism on Revolutions arguing that Christianity and the French Revolution are incompatible that the rebellion is an ignominious revolt against the metaphysical and social order established by God and that tradition is more important that abstract concepts of liberalism. Meant for use in schools it was one of two essays published by Leopardi in 1832. Two editions were published in 1832 both rather uncommon. This edition without date and publisher but which Sorbelli's "Opuscoli stampe alla macchia e fogli volanti riflettenti il pensiero politico italiano: 1830-1835" dates as 1832 is held by only two libraries: Univ.
