He is vague as to where he lived and where he joined the Confederate army but by inference it seems to have been Alabama. He was sent first to Corinth Mississippi thence by railway through Chattanooga and Lynchburg to the concentrations in northern Virginia around Manassas and he seems to have taken part in all the principal battle from Bull Run to Fredericksburg. he was a great admirer of Jefferson Davis to whom this book is dedicated and a thorough sympathizer with the Confederate cause" -Coulter 20.
