Included are photos of stars and of scenes from the play and of Belasco himself receiving a medal from the French government. There are 34 photos in all. Also reprint of interview with Belasco and a tribute to Belasco. Belasco now known by most merely as the name of a theater was one of the leading theater impresarios and a flamboyant showmen in New York in the late 19th and early 20th century noted especially for his crowd-pleasing stage effects and popular entertainments. Large Octavo. .with numerous sketches of men who served under Clark and full list of those allotted lands in Clark's grants for service in the campaigns against the British Posts showing exact land allotted each. Volume I and II have continuous pagination Vol. 586pp and Vol. II. 593-1186pp. It was Clark whose victories in the old Northwest enabled the US to obtain full legal right to the territory under the Treaty of Paris in 1783. Both volumes bound in original blue pictorial gilt depicting Clark with sword in hand standing above Vincennes. Only minor rubbing to edges corners with wear previous owner's name dated 1896. English wholeheartedly endorses the opinion that the British cession of the Northwest Territory to the United States in the Treaty of Paris was the result of Clark's military operations there.
