The following year he was appointed imperial prosecutor of the Civil Court of First Instance of the District of La Rochelle where he held this position until 1813 then returned to the capital of the jurisdiction Poitiers with the title of Counsellor of the Royal Court which he held until his death._x000d_He was a founding member of the Society of Western Antiquaries; an honorary member in Poitiers of the Academic Society of Antiquaries of Morinie; a non-resident member of the Commission of Historical and Scientific Works and a corresponding member of the Academy of Inscriptions and Fine Arts.
