First edition thus complete in three volumes and limited to 150 numbered examples printed on Dutch Pannekoek laid paper this being #85 from a total edition of 166 copies. Includes four previously unpublished pages here reproduced in facsimile and illustrated with sixteen erotic drypoint engravings by Sergie Czerefkov. 8vo. 170pp 176pp and 45pp. Card wrappers. The title pages of volumes one and two printed in black and red and those volumes also with tissue-protected frontispiece illustrations and fourteen further engravings eight in the first volume and six more in the second. The third volume 'Notes sur Aphrodite' includes the four hitherto unprinted facsimile pages three of which are presented as folding leaves. A trace to spotting to the wrappers endpapers and edges. A virtually fine set with the original unprinted glassine protectors housed in a folding stiff card portfolio and slipcase the former lightly toned at the spine and with a few small taped repairs and the latter somewhat soiled and repaired and splitting at one edge. The text in French. A handsomely produced illustrated edition of the author's bestselling first novel originally published in 1896 and depicting courtesan life in Alexandria.
