Emmanuel Looten was a French poet born November 6 1908 in Bergues and died June 30 1974.He published many works theatrical plays but especially books of poetry ; he was also the author of literary or artistic criticism.Strongly influenced by his native region Flanders. He published more than 80 collections of poems and essays and was one of the major poets of French Flanders.His texts were not widely distributed and very few printed but they received the appreciation of great artists and deserve to be discovered or rediscovered : « A cloche-rêve » « Sur ma rive de chair » « La saga de Lug Hallewijn » « Liturgies Flamandes » « Nada » …He received numerous awards: in 1946 the Grand Prix des lettres of the Sciences and Arts Society of Lille and the Prix Verlaine in 1948 by the French Poets Society for his work “The Fabulous Operaâ€. Il s'agit du tiré à part comportant la mention "H.C." au titre de la préface au livre d'Albert Ollivier imprimé publié chez Gallimard en janvier 1955 Saint-Just et la force des choses. Ce texte sera repris dans Le Triangle noir. Ollivier pendant l'occupation participa au Mouvement de résistance de la radio avec Maurice Bourdet et Pierre Schaeffer et se lia d'amitié avec André Malraux et Albert Camus. Dans un studio semi-clandestin à Paris cette équipe de journalistes préparait les émissions pour la future radio libre tout en collaborant à « Combat » le journal clandestin de la Résistance dont il deviendra aux côtés de Camus directeur de rédaction à la Libération en 1944. Saint-Just et la force des choses est commencé dès 1943 alors qu'il est lui-même surnommé « Saint-Just » dans les réseaux de la Résistance. S.l.
