197385169Paris: Gallimard 1973. Fine. Gallimard Paris 1973 14 x 20.50 cm agrafé First edition printed in 50 copies on bouffant alfa paper and consisting of an offprint of the preface to Cahiers de la Petite Dame by Maria van Rysselberghe. Rare and handsome copy. Autograph inscription dated and signed by André Malraux to his friends Karl-Hans and Minka Strauss. Minka granddaughter of the Rothschilds and Karl-Hans Strauss were important patrons and collectors of art and music close to André Malraux. Their correspondence seems to reveal that in the 1970s the old writer was hunting around the world with his last companion Sophie de Vilmorin for works for their collection. At the end of his life he thus rediscovered this youthful passion which inspired his first work La Voie Royale. Gallimard unknown
