One of the few low-budget western films to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Screenplay. <br/><br/>Bill Avery worked as a photographer at Columbia Pictures in the early 20th century with a brief interlude working as a combat cameraman during World War II. He also worked at MGM under noted photographer C.S.
