Many pages are browned at periphery some foxing and staining. Owner's embossed stamp at foot of front free endpaper of Ira M. Rutkow M.D. noted bibliographer of military history. The author was an Army surgeon during the American Revolution and also served during the War of 1812. According to Rutkow GS4 this is probably the best and most vivid picture of early 19th century American military life.
