Small booksellers label to the front pastedown and neat inscription dated 1855 to the opposite free endpaper. Finely bound in attractive nineteenth century full dark green morocco leather. Spine with raised bands each with diagonal gilt line decorations. Compartments double ruled lettered and decorated in gilt including shamrock centre pieces. Both boards with elaborate gilt borders and gilt harp device within. Board edges bevelled. Plain black coated endpapers. Decorative gilt turn-ins. All edges gilt. Neat wedding gift presentation dated 1900 to the front endpaper. Some rubbing and marking to the binding but overall a lovely tight and solid copy of this beautiful book. The binding is unsigned but certainly the work of a master bookbinder.</p> M. H.
