In seinem rebell. Impetus verehrte er eine Zeit lang Hitler. Die Ehe war von Beginn weg krisenhaft der Aktivdienst ein Ärgernis und der Beruf ein ungeliebtes Übel. Nachdem er sich nach schwierigen Jahren autodidaktisch an Rainer Maria Rilke Georg Trakl und Arthur Rimbaud geschult hatte publizierte er ab 1949 einzelne Texte. Erwin Jaeckle und Karl Krolow förderten G. Mit "Blauer Eisenhut. Gedichte" erschien 1951 seine einzige Publikation zu Lebzeiten. 1952 verübte er mit einer 19-jährigen Baslerin Selbstmord wobei die "Traumgefährtin" gerettet werden konnte. Erst als Hans Rudolf Hilty ab 1955 G.s Werk edierte und Roger Perret es 1999 vollständig erschloss wurde sichtbar wie eigenwillig G. als Lyriker und Verfasser kühner Prosatexte gewesen war und wie eindringlich er Klänge der Beat-Generation und Anliegen der 1968er-Bewegung die ihn als einen der ihren entdeckte vorweggenommen hatte» HLS. 010 Zürich, Limmat, 1998 unknown
